In the Ring [1994]
Original
Résumé Eddy, an ex-boxer who now works as a trainer and runs a greasy-spoon in the East End of
Montreal, receives a visit from his nephew, Vic, who wants to become a "pro." This is a play about failure and success, and about dreams and the price we have to pay to make them come true. Extrait « EDDY : So why did ya stop? / VIC : Well, I mean… / EDDY : No, no, there's no "Well, I mean…" / VIC : Aw, come on… / EDDY : There's no fucking "Aw, come on" either! Go! Go! Go! […] (Pause.) Here, you start from scratch. First lesson : Who are you? You're nothing… You got nothin, you are nothin. First lesson : Eyes down!… Mo! » Revue de presse "In the Ring strikes a direct blow to the heart." Isabelle Mandalian, Voir, Montreal, October 20-26, 1994. |
