Fast Lane [1995]
Original
Résumé This provocative play deals with young people in their mid-twenties still clinging to their adolescence. To combat their angst, the six characters, three men and three women, are determined to blow their minds. Out of boredom rather than pleasure, they overindulge in alcohol, drugs and sex, to forget about the politics of their time, that they can no longer rely on God, politics, and to get back their lost self esteem. Extrait « JULIE: Shaun… / SHAUN: What's the matter? / JULIE: Why don't you come over here? / SHAUN: This isn't the time. Don't you see we have a problem? / JULIE: I don't feel like drinking. I feel like doing other things. / MANON: Well the rest of us need to drink some more. Can you respect that? » Revue de presse "Fast Lane is without a doubt the best production I have seen at the NAC Atelier... In a penetratingly satirical way, I believe Fast Lane captures the flavour of our age: fin de siècle with a
techno beat." Chris Baker, X Press, November 8, 1995. |
