Original
Résumé This play in 11 scenes traces the quest for identity of a woman whose humanity, talent and beauty are unparalleled in the 20th century world of letters. It presents a woman whose devotion to art and artists
was complete. Here Anaïs Nin is in the company of giants: Henry Miller and his wife June, Antonin Artaud, Otto Rank and their doubles. At the end of the play Anaïs asks, "Who am I?" and her analyst replies: "Something very beautiful, it's called civilization." Extrait « ANAÏS : […] In their world everything is black or white, doctor. (Excited, fiery.) Whereas I say I am Red and Fundamental! The Fire of Venus belongs to Venus, the quicksilver of philosophers, the very matter of light… And I am She who distils the most powerful of spirits, the most ardent and intoxicating ones, doctor! » |
