The Angel Makers [1985]
(in Lesbian Triptych, Women's Press, Toronto, 1985)
Original
Résumé This play is a monologue in which "abortion is envisaged as a high form of spiritual rebirth in a world where maternity leads to victimization. The Angel Maker is thus transformed into the revolutionary new image of the spiritual midwife, who assists women in giving birth to their new identities as
autonomous, liberated women who consciously make a choice in favour of personal freedom and planetary survival. (Gloria Orenstein, Postface in Lesbian Triptych.) Extrait « At home, the time devoted to my mother's knitting is sacred. It is a reassuring moment for some, even though others are uneasy, are anxious. » |
