Pierre and Marie and the Devil with the Deep Blue Eyes [1998]
Original
Résumé Marie has just been promoted to the position of political attaché to the Minister of External
Commerce. She and her husband, Pierre, who works with children in a daycare centre, decide to celebrate the news by making the rounds of the city's bars. The morning after this festive night, the couple awakens to find a handsome young stranger in their bed. Neither Pierre nor Marie can remember the events leading up to this situation. Only the young man recalls how they have spent their time together. Extrait « PIERRE : I'd like to know how we behaved last night, and at the same time, I'm afraid of what I might learn about the two of us. Who are we? For weeks, we've been as seductive as two shrivelled up cacti, we have a few drinks, and we turn into sex maniacs. Why did we tell a perfect stranger that we'd love him all his life? / MARIE : Because we're good people. » Revue de presse « Except for its bisexual bent, "Pierre and Marie…" is a fairly conventional sex farce.(…) But it is more intelligent than the norm. It has a distinct Québec flavour. And it touches an exposed nerve among the upwardly mobile, asking at what point love is sacrified on the altar of workaholism. » Pat Donnelly, The Gazette, August 10, 1998. |
