Running Riot [1989]
Original
Résumé This surrealistic play deals with the threat of nuclear war, the trials of artistic creation, and the
impossibility of translating reality into theatre. It is the story of an actress who is a prisoner of her
play, of her lines and her set. She wants to escape from the play she has written because she feels threatened by her own commitment and is afraid of losing her audience's admiration. She finally
escapes and tries to hide. This is to no avail. The characters in her play, and in her life, go on haunting
and taunting her. Extrait « THE COSTUME : Your audience! Don't make me laugh! You're scared shitless of them. Have been from the start. This is D-Day, darlin'! The apocalypse! You are fini, cherie! And now, it's over to me! / ACTRESS : Who are you, for the love of... / THE COSTUME : Love! For love!? Oh no…for death! The death of everything. Especially you! I'm your costume. Remember the opening scene…the costume you didn't have the guts to put on! » |
