(Playwrights Canada Press, 2005)
Original
Résumé This is the story of two ten-year old boys. Stephen is new on the block and is trying to make friends with his neighbour Matthew, an imaginative but somewhat wild child who has a strange knack for killing sparrows. A victim of "the sickness of our time", Matthew leads a solitary existence as a social outcast. When Stephen starts school in the fall, will he too shun his friend? Extrait « MATTHEW : […] The other day, I counted to one hundred. I became very, very old. When I opened my eyes, all the trees on the street had grown really tall. Everyone had changed. But I was still alone, like now. The same! I'm a hundred years old, Stephen… because I don't have any friends. / STEPHEN : You've got me. » Revue de presse "Jean-Rock Gaudreault's characters have the freshness and freedom of human beings who have yet to be broken by life's prejudices and vicissitudes."
