The Beauty Machine [1994]
Original
Résumé Half the inhabitants of a village are dissatisfied with their physical appearance. Enter Albert Hammer, inventor of a beauty machine. The villagers emerge from the machine transformed; they're beautiful, but they all look alike. In no time at all, the obsession with beauty has turned life in the village upside down. Something must be done, but what? Extrait « BEETROOT : Because… I'm too embarrassed. Ever since she took my picture, I've been seeing stars. And it's not because of the camera… it's because of her eyes… But I'm sure she could never fall in love with me. / STEVEN and LEO : Why not? / BEETROOT : Because she's so beautiful, and I'm not handsome. I have flat feet and a big, red nose… but I'll go on loving her secretly. Tell her that a secret admirer sent him this little present. » Revue de presse "The results are amazing. Through a clever blend of humour and burlesque theatre, a lot of profound things are said and illustrated in La machine à beauté." Sonia Sarfati, La Presse,
