Résumé Estelle is approaching 55 years of age. She is a mother, a spouse and a salesperson at Eaton's Department Store in the kitchen department. She wonders about the gap which is rapidly growing between her and a husband she still loves, as it is between herself and her children, who have a life and contradictions of their own. A brief affair brings her to realize she has a personal right to a fuller life. Crisis meets humor, in this play written from a woman's perspective. Extrait « ESTELLE, aside : It's my birthday once a year. He could make an effort! Before he used to make an effort at least. But now, of course, I'm too old. I'm not worth it. (Getting more and more depressed.) They should have all clubbed together to buy me a wheel-chair. / RICHARD, to the others : Are we gonna eat soon? » |
