Visit From the Wild or The Island-Shaped-Like-a-Cow's-Head [1987]
Original
Résumé Viviane, who lay dying in hospital, is guided to a rocky peak by a visiting angel. There she finds a
group of people who are about to reenact events from the dramatic summer preceding her own birth.
She sees her father, her grandmother (something of a sorceress), her small, mysterious uncle, and a
friend whose surprise appearance flabbergasts Viviane's parents. As Viviane observes, takes part, narrates
and comments on the unfolding drama, she weaves the tapestry of her previously unknown
past. Extrait « VIVIANE : Is that why my father left? / LE GRAND : Maybe... / VIVIANE : But Richard Stein didn't die. If anybody died, I would have heard about it. / LE GRAND : Are you sure? / VIVIANE : Is he going to die? / LE GRAND : No. He'll live. He'll get better after a bit. » Revue de presse "A quality play that ranks high in Québec dramaturgy." Raymond Bernatchez, La Presse, Montreal, April 17, 1986. |
