A dream of freedom is defeated by the forces of reality when a tough Montreal contraband runner leads his gang astray. Worshipped by the naïve Ciboulette, "Tarzan" runs aground after he kills a border guard. A ruthless police interrogation uncovers the crime, and destroys Tarzan's illusions in the process. Only Ciboulette, true to the play's tragic end, refuses to relinquish the dream.
