Résumé Élise and Léo live in a closed environment, trapped by fear of the unknown and rigid time, calculated one grain of sand at a time. - Décor: The Settings.
A bedroom, because there are beds,
too short, too narrow.
As if children had grown up, grown old, and that their surroundings,
their furniture and their clothes hadn't changed.
A window.
The door outside,
and beyond that door: the world.
A book: The Great Book of the World Outside.
- Caractéristiques des personnages: ÉLISE
A woman, tall and thin.
She has no age but she is older,
such as a twin who was born first.
She keeps the time,
assumes the duty to protect, to set the example,
without knowing which example to set.
This troubles her.
LÉO
A man.
He is smaller, really smaller, perhaps even fragile,
without this being obvious.
Both have become accustomed to behaving as if this were so.
He enjoys being younger
because he can leave to Élise the trouble of doing what he doesn't like
without even wondering if he couldn't do it.
In temperament, he is more fantastical, careless and joyful.
Extrait « VOICE OF ÉLISE: But those who run, fall. Be careful! | Léo stops suddenly. | LÉO: A mountain rises before me | and the shoes run up the mountain. | I have to run. | Don't worry, | the grass is green, | the earth is warm beneath my feet. | I run... I run... I run... and I don't fall. | I run… »
