Akuteu means “suspended” or “hanging” in the Innu language. Using the metaphor of the hanging animal carcass, Soleil Launière depicts the vertigo of being in perpetual suspension, between pride and shame, between what is visible and invisible. Is it right to speak on behalf of your people? How to untangle the inextricable knot that is identity?
