In the heart of the forest live Joe and Catalina, the youngest survivors of a village engulfed by nature. They pass the time hoping that the Stranger will appear and show them the way out of their burrow in the middle of nowhere. Time is of the essence: on the first day of winter, Catalina will have to marry the man who took her in, her sort-of father. Catalina wants to run away, but Joe refuses to let her friend leave. The Stranger who finally shows up is not at all what the two girls expected, and things get out of hand… This story of friendship is subsumed in a fable that challenges notions of identity and territory.
