Midway between a duck and a beaver, the platypus is an egg-laying, bioluminescent, venomous mammal. Platypuses are also what a handful of marginalized youth in northern New Brunswick in the 1990s called themselves one summer. Twelve-year-old Sardine has to navigate the shenanigans of her Uncle Steve, her need to please her best friend Guillaume and the first flutterings of adolescence… until a tragic accident changes things forever. Years later, something happens to reunite all three. Together, they decide to unspool the past and get to the bottom of its deepest, darkest secrets.
